IPSA is independent of parliament and of government. We are, however, accountable for its work and for how it spends public funds so we welcome public scrutiny and the need to be held accountable for our actions. As part of this, we answer written Parliamentary Questions (PQs) from Members of Parliament.
Because we do not have a Government Minister to answer PQs on our behalf, we answer questions by sending a letter to Charles Walker, the MP for Broxbourne, who sits on the Speaker’s Committee for the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (the committee that scrutinises IPSA’s expenditure).
Instructions for searching specifically for PQs are:
• Under ‘Text search’ and type “IPSA” in the ‘All these words’ field
• Under content type, tick ‘Debates & Answers’ and ensure only ‘Commons Written Answers’ is selected
• Under ‘Refining options’ narrow down the date under ‘Date search’ if you so wish
• Hit the search button
We also publish a log of these PQs below:
